Our Premier Product: Salvaged Barn Wood Table

Our salvaged barn wood furniture is sourced locally from a former barn in Cary, Illinois. The premier piece is a sofa table made from reclaimed Southern Yellow Pine beams. Measuring 30" high, 20" deep and 96" long with a full 2" thick top, this table is perfect for displaying cherished artwork, fresh flowers or a home-cooked feast. The hand-selected planks are lightly sanded but left otherwise unfinished which further enhances the unique character of the wood. With nicks and imperfections, this rustic farm table is ideal for the kitchen, a workspace or even the backyard on a happy, summer night.

All furniture is hand-crafted at the shop in Crystal Lake by Joe (above). Future projects include coffee tables, benches, end tables, side boards and full kitchen tables. Any size is available as they are custom crafted.

Our Source: Reclaimed Barnwood in Cary, IL

Source Material from Former Barn in Cary, IL

Benefits of Reclaimed Wood

Definition: Wood that has been salvaged from non-use, destruction or decay for the purpose of another useful life. Rather than being incinerated, stuffed in landfills or left to decay, this wood is reclaimed and recycled into a number of products, including our reclaimed wood furniture.

Environmental
-Sourced locally, meaning that minimal fuels were needed to transport from farm to workshop
-Preserves existing forests and habitats
-Avoids filing up landfills with material that’s removed from the demolition of old structures
-Energy required to harvest and process new wood is conserved

Structural
-Old Growth wood has physical characteristics like a tight, dense grain and clarity that younger ‘new growth’ doesn’t
-Strong and durable; has already stood the test of time

Stylistic
-History that brings an added dimension to a home
-Colors, grains and patinas not easily found in new growth
-Unique characteristics include nail holes, worm holes, knots, variations in the wood grain
